Personal Hotspot not working on iPhone – 17 Ways to fix it.

Hotspot is very important and convenient because it allows us to wirelessly connect our iPhone to the internet. But sometimes, what if it stopped working! What we can do then? Problems related to hotspot may include improper working, disconnect frequently, or it just don’t appear to your phone when you are trying to connect. If you are facing these issues, then you don’t need to worry, because below are 17 ways, by using them you can easily fix your hotspot related problems.

Note: You must have a cellular data plan to use data sharing via hotspot.

1. Check your Personal Hotspot and Cellular Data are on

Your phone hotspot uses your phone’s cellular data to work. It will not work if your cellular data is off. You need to turn on your data connection to use personal hotspot. So, turn both hotspot & cellular data ON.

To turn on Cellular Data:

Launch Control Center and then Tap Cellular Data icon. It will turn green.

To turn on Personal Hotspot:

Go to Control Center and then Press and hold the top left cluster and then tap Personal Hotspot to turn it on. The icon will turn green.

2. Disable and enable Personal Hotspot

Sometimes while connecting to your hotspot connection, if you are facing any issues, it can be resolved just be turning your hotspot ON & OFF and then again turning ON. This can save your time and your hotspot connection will establish.

1. Open Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Tap Cellular Data and then Personal Hotspot.

3. Toggle off Allow Others to Join.

4. Then go back to the previous menu and toggle Cellular Data off.

Wait for a few seconds.

5. Turn on Cellular Data and then tap Personal Hotspot and then toggle Allow Others to join on.

In a similar way, you can turn your data ON & OFF to reset your iPhone’s connection to cellular data network.

3. Don’t lock your device immediately

This feature switches your connection to 2.4 GHz, offering broader coverage, which makes your connection more discoverable but it may slow down the internet speed.

You can use following steps to Maximize Personal Hotspot Compatibility

Go to Settings and then Personal Hotspot and then Turn on Maximize Compatibility.

6. Disable Low Power Mode

To save battery consumption or while using iPhone at low battery, it will automatically turn ON the low power mode. It may create issues while connecting to your hotspot connection. The reason behind this is Low Power Mode is designed to save your power consumption at any cost. It will turn off hotspot automatically to save battery. So, it’s important to turn this OFF while using hotspot. You can follow these steps to turn this OFF.

Go to Settings and then Battery and then Toggle Low Power Mode off.

7. Turn Airplane mode on/off

Sometimes our cellular data is not working properly so we can just Turn ON/OFF Airplane mode. This may fix your cellular connection related problems. You can follow these steps:

1. Go to the Control Center and then Tap the Airplane Mode on.

2. Wait for several seconds and then turn Airplane Mode off.

8. Restart your iPhone

If your hotspot is still not working then you can just restart your iPhone. Restarting your iPhone can fix glitches and bugs.

9. Update to the latest iOS

iPhone get updates regularly in a short period of time, so it’s important to update your iPhone regularly. These updates will fix bugs in your iPhone. May be this is the reason behind your hotspot’s improper working. To update your iPhone, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings and then General and then Software Update.

2. Tap Download and install if any update is available.

10. Remove and reinsert your SIM

11. Try connecting via Bluetooth or USB

If everything fails then you can connect to your Hotspot by using Bluetooth or USB. It will be easy and faster way to enable your hotspot connection.

To connect via Bluetooth:

1. Enable Personal Hotspot on your iPhone as usual and pair your iPhone with the mobile device or computer you want to share your hotspot to.

2. Then open Settings and then Tap Bluetooth and select the device.

To connect via USB:

1. The USB connection method only works when using an iPhone to tether to a computer.

12. Reset Network Settings

Sometimes, accidently we have changed our Network Settings and this may lead to issues while using hotspot connection. So, it’s better to reset your iPhone’s Network Settings. It will not delete your data in any way. It will restore your Network Settings. You can follow these steps:

1. Open Settings and then General.

2. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone and then Reset.

3. Choose Reset Network Settings.

15. Restore your iPhone with DFU mode

16. Reset your iPhone
