How to turn off phone calls on Mac (temporarily or permanently)

When I’m working on my Mac, I love how simple it is to place and receive calls on my iPhone. However, there are moments when I need complete attention on my task without interruptions.

How to temporarily turn off phone calls on Mac

  1. Click the Control Center icon in the Mac menu bar → Select Focus from the list.

2. Choose Do Not Disturb.

Using Siri

  1. Invoke Siri from the Launchpad. You can also say “Hey Siri” if you’ve set it up.
  2. Once Siri is listening, give the command, “Turn on Do Not Disturb until this evening on my Mac.”
  3. Now, Siri will confirm that the feature has been turned on.

How to permanently turn off phone calls on Mac

  1. Launch the FaceTime app on Mac.
  2. Click FaceTime on the menu bar → Choose Settings.

3. Ensure to be in the General tab → Uncheck the box next to Call From iPhone.

  1. Launch Settings on your iPhone
  2. Select Phone.
  3. Tap Calls on Other Devices → Toggle off the button next to your Mac’s name.

If you turn off Mac phone calls, the buzzing of incoming calls on your computer will stop. Your iPhone will still be able to receive calls regularly.

Can I block certain contacts from receiving calls on my Mac?

There isn’t a defined way to stop Mac phone calls for certain contacts, which is a bummer. On the other side, if you turn off Mac calls, all incoming calls to your iPhone will also be affected.
