How to download watchOS 10 developer beta on Apple Watch

A number of new features found in the watch’s most recent operating system include NameDrop, follow-ups for prescription reminders, and entertaining new watch faces. Here are the procedures to download and install the watchOS 10 developer beta on your Apple Watch if you’re ready to start using and showcasing these intriguing capabilities.

What will you need to install the all-new watchOS 10?

  • iOS update: The paired iPhone Xs or later should be running iOS 17 developer beta.
  • Apple Developer account – To download the developer beta profile, you’ll need to log in with a developer account. So, keep the credentials handy or create a new one (costs 99/year).
  • Stable network – You’ll need a strong and stable strong Wi-Fi network to ensure a smooth and quick download and installation.
  • Backup – While not compulsory, it is wise to back up your Apple Watch to avoid data loss if something goes awry.

Caution: Once the developer beta of watchOS 10 has been successfully installed on your Apple Watch, it cannot be downgraded to watchOS 9. The best course of action is to refrain from installing beta releases on your primary device as they typically include a number of issues as well.

How to download watchOS 10 developer beta on Apple Watch

  1. Open Safari on your paired iPhone and go to
  2. Tap the two-line icon located at the top left → choose Account from the options.
  3. Sign in using your Developer account credentials.
  4. Next, you can tap the two-line icon and Downloads → Scroll to watchOS → Discover → watchOS → Downloads
  5. Choose Install Profile next to watchOS 10 beta.
  6. Tap Allow → Close.
    Alternatively, you can log in to on a Mac or PC, download the file, and send it to your iPhone.
  7. Now, navigate to Settings on your iPhone → tap on Profile Downloaded at the top.
  8. Tap Install in the top right corner.
  9. If prompted, enter your Passcode.
  10. Read and accept the consent agreement, and then tap Install twice to proceed. 
    Your iPhone will ask you to restart the watch.
  11. Tap Restart to finish the process.

How to install watchOS 10 developer beta on Apple Watch

When you successfully download the beta certificate you previously downloaded, it alerts the Watch app on your iPhone that watchOS 10 beta is available for installation. Restart your Apple Watch a second time if the beta version still does not appear.

Note: Ensure your iPhone is connected to a strong Wi-Fi network before proceeding.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to My Watch → Select General.
  3. Look for the option labeled Software Update and tap on it.
  4. Navigate to the Beta Updates section → Look for watchOS 10 Developer Beta or watchOS 10 Public Beta.
  5. Now, press the < arrow to head back to Software Update section → Choose the option to Download and Install the update displayed next to the beta update.
  6. If prompted, enter your phone passcode for verification.
  7. Agree to the Terms and Conditions by tapping the corresponding option.
  8. Connect your Apple Watch to its magnetic charger and make sure it has a minimum charge of 50%.
  9. Select Install to initiate the update process on your iPhone and/or Apple Watch.

In order to apply the update, your Apple Watch will restart once the procedure is complete. Additionally, you can view the progress on the display of your Apple Watch.

Note: Keep your Apple Watch on it’s charger and wait for the installation process to complete.
